Ohio's capital, Columbus, is the flourishing home of Ohio State University, a number of state parks, a clutch of cultural sights and German Village, a red-brick neighborhood with old-World charms.
The western hemisphere (let alone Texas) only has possession of these frescos because of thieves, who ripped the dome and the apse from a 13th century chapel in the 1980s. The Menil Foundation rescued the frescos and the Church of Cyprus (to which they belong) has let them keep the artwork on long-term loan. The chapel museum itself is a new construction, designed by Menil to accentuate the frescoes with rough stone and dark glass.
